The Florida special congressional election

The Congressional special election in Florida yesterday, was a significant and major loss for the Democrats. I will not elaborate on the numbers, but a majority of the Democrats stayed home. It’s apparent that many people just don’t get the message, are uninformed or simply don’t care. If you did not vote in the election yesterday, than you must not have any opinions on the following which is part of the Republican national platform.

1. They are against women’s rights to make decisions on birth control, abortion and had even cut funding for close to 100,000 mammograms in the past two years. That’s their answer to healthcare.

2. They are interested in reducing Social Security for future participants and strongly support privatization. Good luck to those who will be eligible 10 or more years from now because your benefits will be reduced.

3. They are interested in eliminating health insurance for 30 to 40,000,000 people. They have no alternative healthcare program.

4. They would reduce Medicaid and Medicare and create a voucher system. When your vouchers are gone, good luck.

5. They are suppressing your right to vote and they’re not afraid to admit it. So for those who did not show up to vote yesterday, you just gave them additional ammunition to stop you from voting and limit access in the future.

6. They are against increasing the minimum wage which of course further increases the profits of big business, including Walmart.

7. They are against federally subsidized and funded jobs programs. To date, Republicans have not offered a single jobs program and blocked the President’s efforts since his first election.

8. They are against increasing unemployment benefits and actually have several bills that would reduce current benefit levels.

9. They do not believe in global warming.

10. They believed the Earth was created only 5000 years ago.

11. They do not believe that women should be paid equal to men when performing the exact same job. All the women out there, who did not show up to vote, don’t complain anymore, instead look in the mirror and ask why. Talk to yourself because you’re the reason for the loss.

12. These people are against food stamps and have cut the program significantly.

I could go on and on as my current list includes 63 items. It’s unfortunate that some people don’t realize we are dealing with anarchy from a group that is obsessed with power and despises the middle and lower classes and will do anything to seize that power. I can speak of these issues freely and without any level of guilt because I have never used a single federal subsistence program.

I have worked in campaigns for nearly my entire life and I can tell you Republicans are out right evil. We must show up in force at every election to stop them from putting their agenda into law. They do not like you or care about you. They lie with straight faces. Lastly, communicate with other Democrats to explain to them the ramifications of a Republican-controlled Congress.

How Do You Know A Republican.

1. If your only goal is to obstruct the President and not have an agenda of your own.

Republicans continue to obstruct the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, while having no plan of their own to cover approximately 35,000,000 American citizens.
In Georgia, Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens boasted in a speech two months ago about a new state law that requires navigators to be icensed by his office. “Let me tell you what we’re doing: Everything in our power to be an obstructionist,” Hudgens said to cheers. National Journal       Navigators help people through the Health Care enrollment process.

2. If you are waging a war against the rights of women

In 2012, John Boehner, pushed through a House bill that would weaken the Violence Against Women Act.

What is The Violence Against Women Act:

A sweeping response to the perception of increased violence against women in America, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 1994 was a broad-based law that created everything from funding of domestic-violence programs to new Civil Rights remedies for women who were victims of gender-based attacks. The scope of the law made it somewhat controversial, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that at least one provision of the act was unconstitutional. But VAWA still managed to have a far-reaching effect on gender-based crime,

And 168 Republicans also opposed a provision adding certain groups such as Native Americans.  “Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, who joined 10 other GOP women in voting against the measure, and said: ” I didn’t like the way it was expanded to include other different groups.”  usnews.com  As it turns out, the different groups, included not only native Americans, but also gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth, and undocumented women who have been victims of domestic violence.

5 things we learned from the White House’s Benghazi email dump

By the Week .Com and written By  | May 16, 2013

On Wednesday evening, at what Slate‘s David Weigel snidely calls “the convenient 5 p.m. hour,” the White House released 100 emails detailing the bureaucratic sausage-making that created the Obama administration’s first unclassified talking points on the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

The 99 emails and one handwritten page of edits add a lot of detail to what we generally already knew about the talking points — which means that if you had strong opinions about the Benghazi debacle and its aftermath already, you can probably find something in the 100 pages to support your beliefs.

“As has been widely reported, it was the State Department that drove the dumbing down of the talking points,” says John Hinderaker at PowerLine. And “the emails make another key point crystal clear: The administration molded the talking points for the specific purpose of counteracting the news, which was already starting to get traction, that what happened in Benghazi was a planned terrorist attack.” And that’s no surprise, Hinderaker adds, because strikingly, “the process was driven entirely by political operatives.”

Looking at the same emails, Hayes Brown at Think Progress says these new documents “seem to undermine GOP claims that the White House orchestrated a ‘cover-up,'” and “debunk the basis many of the Republican’s claims of a conspiracy.” It was the CIA, not the State Department or White House staff, that introduced the idea of pre-attack demonstrations and nixed all mention of al Qaeda — and not for political reasons. The CIA was under “express instructions” to avoid any information that would compromise the FBI’s investigation.

The emails did clear up some points in this long-simmering flap, however. Here, five things we learned from the Benghazi email dump:

1. The CIA drove the talking points process
The emails — dating from Friday, Sept. 14, just before noon to Saturday, Sept. 15, just before 8 p.m. — indicate that there was input from the CIA, FBI, State Department, White House, and other intelligence agencies, but it’s clear that the talking points began and ended with the CIA. Agency staffers wrote the first drafts of the talking points, in response to a request from Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. And the person responsible for whittling the original five points down to three was CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell.

It was Morell, much to his boss’ apparent annoyance, who took out all references to “Islamic” extremists, the large amounts of guns floating around in Libya, and the CIA warnings about “the threat of extremists linked to al Qaeda in Benghazi and Eastern Libya.”

Morell “felt the talking points should focus on what happened in Benghazi on September 11, rather than the previous six months,” says CNN’s Jake Tapper, citing senior Obama administration officials. “He also felt it was unprofessional and unfair for the CIA to cite its own warnings to the State Department.”

2. The incorrect pre-attack protest detail was the CIA, too
A major GOP point of criticism of the Obama team’s response to the attack was the erroneous claim that the siege was preceded by a spontaneous protest, inspired by a similar protest outside the U.S. embassy in Cairo. That claim — which senior U.S. officials say reflects the best intelligence at the time — was part of the original CIA talking points, and CIA officials steered the talking points more explicitly toward highlighting a demonstration.

U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice has faced the brunt of the criticism on this point. Rice’s appearance on Sunday talk shows on Sept. 16 — in which she relied on the talking points to argue that the attacks probably grew out of a protest of an anti-Islam video — likely cost her a promotion to secretary of State. And it’s technically true, as PowerLine‘s Hinderaker notes, that “there is no reference to any YouTube video” in any version of the talking points. But the protest in Cairo, which all versions of the talking points say inspired the mythical Benghazi protest, were explicitly in reaction to the YouTube video.

The last email in the pack is from White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes to one of Rice’s aides. “Is this the final language you want to use on Benghazi?” the unidentified aide asks. “Have short window to get her something on paper soon.” Rhode’s one-word response: “Yup.”

3. Most of the objections did come from the State Department
The White House “quickly” cleared the talking points, and the FBI cleared them “with a few comments,” a CIA staffer wrote to CIA Director David Petraeus at 9:52 p.m. on Friday. But the State Department “has major concerns.”

That the State Department — which wasn’t roped into the discussion until the fourth draft — would raise the most objections to the CIA’s talking points isn’t surprising, say Scott Wilson and Karen DeYoung at The Washington Post. “The two agencies had the most at stake in the Benghazi aftermath,” and their main dispute was “whether previous CIA warnings of attacks in the Benghazi area should be included in those initial public statements.” Fairly or not, mention of prior warnings would have made the CIA look good and the State Department bad.

Senior intelligence officials who briefed the media on the emails say that Morell scratched the section about the CIA warnings even before hearing about the State Department’s objections — the emails don’t prove this either way, since Morell’s edits (in which he did cross out the CIA warnings) are handwritten and have no timestamp.

4. The White House changed more than one word
After Morell made the final changes to the talking points, whittling them down from five to three and stripping out much of the interesting stuff, Rhodes offered “one edit, for accuracy”: Change “consulate” to “diplomatic post.” That fits with White House press secretary Jay Carney’s contention the the White House changed only one word, “consulate.” But on Friday evening, Tommy Vietor — then NSA spokesman — also asked that the CIA add the word “Cairo” to the talking point about the previous protests in Egypt.

State Department official Jacob Sullivan echoed Rhodes on Saturday afternoon, asking that the CIA change “consulate” to “the U.S. mission” or “U.S. diplomatic post” for the final version. But Sullivan also noted that “there is a missing ‘of’ in the third” talking point.

John Brennan, now the CIA director but then a deputy national security adviser, revised a talking point about the makeup of the crowd that gathered around the Benghazi mission, though he left in that “Islamic extremists participated in the demonstrations.” Morell later scratched that entire talking point.

5. David Petraeus didn’t care for the final talking points
In the mess of emails, there are a few informing Petraeus about the status of the talking points, but only one from Petraeus himself. At 12:51 p.m. on Saturday, a CIA staffer emailed the final draft to Petraeus for his approval. He didn’t much approve. Here is his response, at 2:27, in full:

No mention of the cable to Cairo, either? Frankly, I’d just as soon not use this, then… [National Security Council staff’s] call, to be sure; this is certainly not what Vice Chairman Ruppersberger was hoping to get for [unclassified] use.

We also learned one trivial thing about Petraeus:

From the Review:

If you have read the emails, it is apparent the Obama administration did not manipulate  the talking points to protect themselves for the upcoming election. However, Lindsey Graham and others continue to incorrectly state the administration manipulated the talking points to protect mistakes from the public view prior to the presidential election. Even the news media is retracting comments given to them off the record by various Republican congressional officials that were deliberately and blatantly inaccurate.

Most Democrats would never vote for a pathological liar, but for Republicans it’s become commonplace. They have no conscience. After all, they’re making every effort to suppress people from voting. They’re un-American and for that very reason alone, I could never cast my ballot for that party again. Be a champion of the American spirit and send the Republican Party of message.

Romney Facts and History- Abortion

Romney Facts and History- Abortion

Mar 23, 2012

Yes, the title of this post is a slight play on words as the term fact and Romney should never appear together in any discussion. We attempt in this discussion to display a host of facts and information regarding Romney’s road to the 2012 presidential election and his past political history. As the discussion is updated, we will list the subject category at the top of the page and the date.

Abortion: -2-23-2012

The Romney flip-flops on abortion have become legendary. In this video, William Saletan traces the history of Romney’s philosophy on abortion. He points out that the change in philosophy is not the most disturbing factor but instead the numerous variations describing the change which are often contradictory and untrue. The Conversion

Is anything about Mitt Romney real?

Is anything about Mitt Romney real?

Feb 16, 2012

Mitt Romney has produced a campaign ad whose main message is to prove that he is Michigan’s native son. He is seen driving a car through the Michigan country and states, “I grew up in Michigan,” and he continues,”I remember going to the Detroit auto show with my dad.” The ad quickly shifts to a picture of Romney and his father looking down on what is intended to be the Detroit auto show. There is only one problem with the picture. He and his father are standing above and looking down at the1964 world’s fair in New York. Oh, and did we mention the car Romney is driving in the ad is made in Canada, not the United States. I know Democrats have absolutely no respect for Romney and most independents have also turned away. These people understand that he is a phony, a liar and cannot be trusted to hold the highest office on earth. As for the Republicans, they are signed sealed and delivered robots who would vote against their own convictions and moral standings. And let’s not forget, some of them are simply racist.

Update- 2-3-2012

Update-2-6-2012

Update-2-12-2012

Who and what is Mitt Romney? According to literature on the internet, political pundits on radio and TV, the answer to the question is rarely consistent. It is common knowledge that Romney routinely alters has political positions based on the climate of the electorate at any given point in time. If one does a search on any of the search phrases below, what appears is hundreds of sources, noting Romney’s changing positions. Most of the sources are non partisan.

1.Romney flip flops

2.Romney changing political positions

3.Romney alters political positions

So how does one interpret his personality and character based upon the continual altering of political positions?

Further, during the 2012 Republican primary campaign every one of Romney’s opponents has accused him of lying. While all major political candidates may misquote or forget the facts periodically, does Romney, win the gold for intentional deception?  From my research, I believe Romney creates a ruse when necessary for political gain.

Webster’s Dictionary defines a “Ruse” as: “a wily subterfuge” and uses the following descriptive sentence.

“His act was just a clever ruse to get me to go out with him.”

Webster’s includes a second definition: “a trick or act that used to fool someone”

Most on-line dictionaries include the list below as antonyms for ruse.

1. truth

2. reality

3. sincerity

Update: 2-3-2012

It’s only appropriate to begin the story of the ‘Romney Ruse’, by starting with his early life. Understand, that the point we are intending to make herein, is not simply to degrade the privileged or an individual in this case, but instead to point out the lies or more politely the ruse Romney intends to create as a presidential candidate. His desire is to portray himself in a setting that would garner the most potential votes.

Romney claims he is a self-made man and on occasion notes the struggles he encountered as a young man. Unlike most college students, Romney’s education was entirely paid for by his parents. He never needed to obtain a student loan, which for many students delays marriage, the purchase of a home and other amenities when not undertaking the obligations of additional debt. Further, he did not have to obtain employment to pay for books and other education related items during his college years. And from a privileged family, Rodney was educated at a prestigious prep school to prepare him for college.

When Romney was married, his parents purchased a car for him and helped pay for an apartment. According to his wife Ann, they did not have to work. Later, his parents assisted him in purchasing a home. For the most part, Romney was a good student, obtaining honors and excellent grades and worked hard. After he completed his education and started a family, most of the money Romney obtained was through his own hard work. However, there are numerous sources that call into question his statements about never inheriting any money from his family. Although the numbers differ, there is credible evidence that he did in fact inherent nearly one million upon his father’s death in 1995. While there’s nothing wrong with being born into a privileged family, Romney should not act as if he struggled like most Americans to reach their station in life.

Update-2-6-2012

Pink Slips: Really??

While campaigning in New Hampshire, in response to concerns by an audience regarding employment and the loss of jobs, Romney blurted out,  “I know what it’s like to worry whether you’re gonna get fired.” he further went on to say, “I know what it’s like to worry whether you’re gonna get fired.” His rivals at immediately scoffed at the idea that Romney ever had to worry about receiving a pink slip. This was just another attempt to create a ruse to identify himself with the middle class and the average American family.

Texas governor, Rick Perry, responded by stating, “I have no doubt that Mitt Romney was worried about pink slips, whether he was going to have enough of them to hand out.”

However, when confronted by reporters, neither Romney or his campaign staff could give a specific instance where he was in jeopardy of losing employment. And even if Romney was fearful of receiving a pink slip, the circumstances would be quite different than the average American, who did not inherit $1 million and does not have a considerable amount of cash in the bank or in other investments. This is simply another Romney ruse to identify with middle America. What can we say, another Romney lie.

Update-2-12-2012

The abortion issue

It is not unusual for intelligent individuals to alter their positions on various issues upon obtaining additional information or improving their knowledge of same. Many people including politicians have altered the position on same-sex marriage upon obtaining additional information. However, with Romney one has to wonder whether it is a change in position due to the improvement of knowledge or simply based on the current direction of the political wind.

When Romney ran against Senator Ted Kennedy in 1994 for a Massachusetts Senate seat,Charles Manning, a political advisor of his informed the Boston Globe that there were “tiny nuances” in the difference between Kennedy’s and Romney’s view of abortion. In that same year, Romney proclaimed, in a debate with Kennedy, abortion should be legal, stating that, “regardless of one’s beliefs about choice, you would hope it would be safe and legal.”

As Americans,we enjoyed great freedoms including the ability to maintain and hold true to our personal beliefs. However, under no circumstances should we enact laws and force people to abide by our own personal beliefs that may strongly differ from theirs. This is what the Republican Party has evolved to since 2010 when the tea partiers took control of the House of Representatives. So again, what is Romney when it comes to the subject of abortion? At one time he was strongly pro-choice and now that he is running for president in a significantly more conservative Republican Party, he is against pro-choice and is intent on placing impediments in the way of those women that want to make their own decisions.

Update: 3-23-2012

This article published by the New York Magazine provides a psychological explanation why Mitt Romney is prone to lying. It’s really sad this individual actually has a chance of becoming the president of the United States. A pathological liar. Mitt Romney Lies a Lot, But He’s Not a Liar

More to come
