The Florida special congressional election

The Congressional special election in Florida yesterday, was a significant and major loss for the Democrats. I will not elaborate on the numbers, but a majority of the Democrats stayed home. It’s apparent that many people just don’t get the message, are uninformed or simply don’t care. If you did not vote in the election yesterday, than you must not have any opinions on the following which is part of the Republican national platform.

1. They are against women’s rights to make decisions on birth control, abortion and had even cut funding for close to 100,000 mammograms in the past two years. That’s their answer to healthcare.

2. They are interested in reducing Social Security for future participants and strongly support privatization. Good luck to those who will be eligible 10 or more years from now because your benefits will be reduced.

3. They are interested in eliminating health insurance for 30 to 40,000,000 people. They have no alternative healthcare program.

4. They would reduce Medicaid and Medicare and create a voucher system. When your vouchers are gone, good luck.

5. They are suppressing your right to vote and they’re not afraid to admit it. So for those who did not show up to vote yesterday, you just gave them additional ammunition to stop you from voting and limit access in the future.

6. They are against increasing the minimum wage which of course further increases the profits of big business, including Walmart.

7. They are against federally subsidized and funded jobs programs. To date, Republicans have not offered a single jobs program and blocked the President’s efforts since his first election.

8. They are against increasing unemployment benefits and actually have several bills that would reduce current benefit levels.

9. They do not believe in global warming.

10. They believed the Earth was created only 5000 years ago.

11. They do not believe that women should be paid equal to men when performing the exact same job. All the women out there, who did not show up to vote, don’t complain anymore, instead look in the mirror and ask why. Talk to yourself because you’re the reason for the loss.

12. These people are against food stamps and have cut the program significantly.

I could go on and on as my current list includes 63 items. It’s unfortunate that some people don’t realize we are dealing with anarchy from a group that is obsessed with power and despises the middle and lower classes and will do anything to seize that power. I can speak of these issues freely and without any level of guilt because I have never used a single federal subsistence program.

I have worked in campaigns for nearly my entire life and I can tell you Republicans are out right evil. We must show up in force at every election to stop them from putting their agenda into law. They do not like you or care about you. They lie with straight faces. Lastly, communicate with other Democrats to explain to them the ramifications of a Republican-controlled Congress.

Thoughts To Ponder

A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right and evil doesn’t become good, just because a majority has accepted it as fact. 2004a0002

If you say to someone, “you do that all the time,” you need to remember and recite at least one other time they did that. 1997

When times are good in your life, your friends get to know who you are. When times are down or bad in your life, you get to know who your friends are. 1978

I rather look back at my life saying “I can’t believe I did that” instead of saying, “I wish I did that.”

This expression was created and expanded over numerous years. And possibly it will continue to be expanded. You will notice that the Internet has altered how the expression is written.

There are two experiences that you can never get back.

First, words after they had been uttered.

And second, a stone after it has been thrown. 1974

I added a third experience in 1980 after personal dramatic circumstances in my life. As a result, the expression was changed as written below.

There are three experiences that you can never get back.

One, words after they have been spoken.

Two, a stone after it has been thrown.

Three, a moment or occasion after it has passed

In January 1984, my father died and I added a fourth item which was stated in a different manner to my brother. Later that same year, I added a fifth experience, again related to the death of my father.

There are five experiences that you can never get back.

One, words after they have been spoken.

Two, a stone after it has been thrown.

Three, a moment or occasion after it has passed.

Four, a person after they have passed.

Five, time once it has passed.

The final two experiences were added twelve years later in 1996. They are rarely included in the various depictions I have seen on the Internet. The only logic I can conclude for their lack of inclusion, is that I stopped posting to inspirational and poetic websites. Thus, the final or I should say current construction is noted below.

There are seven experiences that you can never get back.

One, words after they have been spoken.

Two, a stone after it has been thrown.

Three, a moment or occasion after it has passed.

Four, a person after they have passed.

Five, time once it has passed.

Six, betrayal after it has transpired.

Seven, a lie after it has been spoken.

How Do You Know A Republican.

1. If your only goal is to obstruct the President and not have an agenda of your own.

Republicans continue to obstruct the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, while having no plan of their own to cover approximately 35,000,000 American citizens.
In Georgia, Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens boasted in a speech two months ago about a new state law that requires navigators to be icensed by his office. “Let me tell you what we’re doing: Everything in our power to be an obstructionist,” Hudgens said to cheers. National Journal       Navigators help people through the Health Care enrollment process.

2. If you are waging a war against the rights of women

In 2012, John Boehner, pushed through a House bill that would weaken the Violence Against Women Act.

What is The Violence Against Women Act:

A sweeping response to the perception of increased violence against women in America, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 1994 was a broad-based law that created everything from funding of domestic-violence programs to new Civil Rights remedies for women who were victims of gender-based attacks. The scope of the law made it somewhat controversial, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that at least one provision of the act was unconstitutional. But VAWA still managed to have a far-reaching effect on gender-based crime,

And 168 Republicans also opposed a provision adding certain groups such as Native Americans.  “Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, who joined 10 other GOP women in voting against the measure, and said: ” I didn’t like the way it was expanded to include other different groups.”  usnews.com  As it turns out, the different groups, included not only native Americans, but also gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth, and undocumented women who have been victims of domestic violence.

Why the University of Miami Should Not Receive any More Penalities

Mark Emmert-NCAA Executive Director

Mark Emmert-NCAA Executive Director

On February 5, 2013 we stated the paragraph below related to the University of Miami, NCAA investigation.

“Depending on how you view the situation, the current NCAA investigation of allegations against the University of Miami has impacted three recruiting classes. In November 2012, we reported between 8 to 17 players chose other schools over the University of Miami due to impending sanctions. We can now more accurately state that between 11 to 18 players made decisions to attend schools other than Miami due to pending sanctions. Coaches tell us the cloud hanging over Miami is constantly used aganist them by other schools. FSU’s Jimbo Fisher is specifically mentioned as one who points out the NCAA investigation to recruits considering Miami.” Entire Article

On September 24, 2013 Greg Cote, Wrote the following in a Miami Herald article: if you’ll forgive an estimate and a rounded number for dramatic effect, let’s just go ahead and call it “1,000 Days of Hell” now — and counting — for University of Miami athletics in the bumbling hands of the ponderous NCAA. Article

A few months ago we learned that Keith Bryant, a Rivals four star defensive tackle from Delray Beach, Florida, was persuaded to attend Florida State, because of of impending sanctions against the University of Miami.  While we attempted to speak with Mr. Bryant, who did not return phone calls, we were able to make contact with a few of his friends and Delray Beach teammates. Of the five people we spoke to, there was one common theme. Florida State coaches routinely stated they had inside information and that Miami would receive additional penalties, including more post season bowl bans and get hit hard with scholarship reductions. One coach continually threw-out the thought that the scholarship situation would keep Miami down for at least the next five years.

Bryant who leaned toward Miami at one point bought into the comments. And according to a family friend, so did other recruits.
We have adjusted the February estimate ans now believe 14 to 19 players went elsewhere due to pending sanctions and penalties. Considering, the University Miami has self-imposed not attending three postseason games, endured a sloppy unethical investigation by the NCAA, and lost players due to the length of the investigation, they should not receive any additional sanctions or penalties.

Electronic Cigarettes- What are They and How They Work

 What are Electronic Cigarettes

Electronic cigarettes, also known as smokeless cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or e-cigs, are an alternative method to smoking with or without the consumption of nicotine, the addictive chemical found in tobacco. Manufacturers typically design e-cigarettes to look like regular cigarettes, but they contain no tobacco. The typical electronic cigarette contains a battery that supplies power to a heating element, called an atomizer. The  atomizer vaporizes liquid contained in a cartridge that appears like smoke. It is actually water vapor.

The Way Smokeless Cigarettes Work

The cigarettes have three main components, which are presented in Figure 1:

Figure 1 – Electronic cigarette mechanism

  1. cartridge  – a removable metal piece with nicotine;
  2. heating device (atomizer) – the component that heats a liquid;
  3. batteries and the circuits – the part that lights up the atomizer.

The battery of e cigarettes is lithium-ion rechargeable and is employed to power the heating element. Normally, the size, as well as the type of the battery, determines the life of an e-cig. This part is the largest.

Cartridge is the storage place for the nicotine solution (e-juice or e-liquid). Today there are available various flavors of cartridge, like menthol, vanilla, tobacco or cherry. While choosing the cartridge to use, one can decide on the level of nicotine – high, medium, low or zero. Of course, the main ingredient of the cartridge is nicotine, but there are also propylene alcohol, water and the flavor.

Atomizer is the heating element and is the most important part of e cigs. Why? It is responsible for the conversion of nicotine into vapor. As a rule, an atomizer works for about one month, and after that it should be replaced.
