The Trump File

                                                                          The Trump File

When I asked, a lifelong close friend why he was voting for Donald Trump, he cited two issues. First, he said that Trump was a great businessman and we needed somebody with business knowledge in the White House for a change. Secondly, he indicated Trump would be a change agent since he was not a Washington insider.

Another close friend who also voted for Trump and was a Democrat indicated that Hillary Clinton was crooked and compromise United States security by installing her personal server. I next asked him about Donald Trump’s qualifications to serve as president and which ones were the most important to him. He thought for a moment and said, he admired an individual whose father only gave him one million dollars and turned it into a billion-dollar empire.

Both of my friends shoved off my questions concerning the morality and ethics of Donald Trump as both believed Clinton had more significant and severe breaches of moral and ethical misconduct. While the phrase, “moral and ethical conduct,” was one I frequently used to ask a question concerning both candidates, I was surprised that slightly more than 50% believed Clinton’s conduct was worse than Trump’s. However, of the more than 20 people I interviewed, on the question of Clinton’s misconduct, the three issues cited involved personal emails, the Clinton foundation, and Bill Clinton’s indiscretions. No other concerns or issues were noted except for one person calling out like water and to others indicated she helped start Isis.

I wrote the above questions concerning the issues of each presidential candidate because from numerous past discussions and interviews it was generally apparent that Trump voters were unaware of the candidate’s background, his issues nor were informed concerning his moral and ethical history.

Although we stopped writing this report in January 2016, even after the election we decided to create and maintain a record of the activities, moral, ethical and other subject matter relative to Donald Trump. Once completed, I believe this will be the most comprehensive report on Mr. Trump. It is not intended to be a biography, but instead a chronicle of his past and current activities as they relate to serving in public office.

We provide links where possible to serve as supporting documentation or reference material for further reading. From time to time we may adjust the sequence where subject matter is located in the report, with the intention of making it more reader friendly.

Russia:  Donald Trump’s ties Russia and Putin:

Throughout the course of the campaign, Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he has absolutely no economic or personal ties to Russia or Vladimir Putin. After the Democratic National Committee was hacked, Trump tweeted “” I have zero investments in Russia.”

According to the Democratic Coalition, the FBI failed to investigate at least ten connections regarding Trump’s ties to Russia. The coalition formulated the Dworkin report, which translates to, “evidence tying Donald Trump to Russia.”

José Fernandez

At approximately 8:20 AM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 a piece of me died. I sat in my office sipping coffee trying to finish an article for the blog, The Randolph Review. My deep concentrated thoughts suddenly appeared fuzzy and disoriented on the page when a voice on the TV behind me, mentioned jose1José Fernandez had died in a boating accident. I spun my chair around and stared into the screen, confused in disbelief. When a tear splattered on my arm and the screen went fuzzy, I knew it was real and a part of me died with José. His light shined the brightest among the glitter of South Beach.

For you see, Fernandez was a friend of mine and now I would never see him again. But I do remember his infectious smile, the bear hugs he gave his teammates and the electricity he created by virtue of his presence. His family, the Marlins, South Florida and I, had lost an icon, someone we could admire and were proud that he was the face of our community. He was one of those people that seem to up lift everything he touched and everyone around him. If you ever had a family member, teammate or friend whose presence altered the atmosphere, your environment and enhanced your existence, then you could relate to the personality of Fernandez. When people like him are no longer among us, we feel the loss, a sense of emptiness that even time may not cure. We will always have a missing piece from our soul. And it’s hard to imagine that gut wrenching loss for his family and especially his girlfriend who is pregnant with José’s first child.

José failed three times to defect to the United States until he was successful in 2008. On one journey, he had to dive into open water and save his mother from drowning. Did I mention that José Fernandez was a baseball player? He went to high school in Tampa Florida and was drafted in the first round of the 2011 major-league draft by the Florida Marlins. His major-league debut was April 7, 2013 and at that moment every fan knew he was something special. He was the embodiment of the American spirit, an immigrant trying to escape tyranny and injustice. On many occasions he noted how proud he was to become an American citizen in 2015.

I must admit that I never met José but like many South Floridians have an emotional attachment to him. I made a special effort to watch specifically those games where he pitched but the cameras always found Fernandez in the dugout even on his off days. Can any one of you in South Florida remove the image of his smile from your mind? And lastly, I should note that he was not only a baseball player – but the rookie of the year, two time All-Star, and one of the top five pitchers in the major-leagues according to many experts.

The next time you have one of those moments where the world is against you and you feel like there is no hope in your life, think of José and his struggle to touch the hand of freedom. Just maybe your moment will quickly fade.

For the moment the glitter on South Beach has dimmed.

The Libertarian Party

The Libertarian party- Issues and Platform

Gary Johnson

Gary Johnson

Although I am very informed and engaged in the current presidential election, I must admit the shock when I began studying the Libertarian platform. Even more confusing are the results of several recent polls showing that many Bernie Sander’s millennials have moved toward the Libertarian party. The reason for my confusion is that the majority of their platform is further to the right than the Republican Party and diametrically opposite the issues adopted by the Sander’s progressive movement. In other words, why would a Sanders supporter migrate to a candidate that rebuffs the major components of the Sander’s platform.

I would be interested in hearing comments, especially from millennial’s, and more specifically from those who supported Bernie that now support the libertarians.

Key Issues

Johnson does not believe in climate change.

Johnson supports Citizens United.

Economy and Budget

  1. Pledged to submit a balanced budget within the first 100 days of his administration. This would necessitate a more than 20% decrease in current federal spending and will include the reduction of entitlements. A few departments would be eliminated and military spending dramatically decreased. Most experts on the Internet indicate this position would be dangerous to the economy and to senior citizens and low income individuals.
  2. They would reduce military spending by 20%. Military bases throughout the United States and the world would also be reduced by 20%. Experts on this issue indicate this proposal could jeopardize the security of the United States and our allies. Many indicated the proposal is dangerous.

Entitlements- Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

  1. In regard to Medicare and Medicaid, The libertarians would basically eliminate the role of the federal government. The literature on this issue believes this could result in 50 different systems and programs that could result in substantial chaos for these programs.
  2. Johnson, would reform Social Security, including increasing the eligibility age. His comments have ranged raising the age from 68 – 70.

Gun Control

  1. Does not believe the, “no-fly list”, should be utilized to deny a person gun ownership.
  2. Believes open carry should be a national policy as it will reduce mass shootings. He states that Americans would be safer if guns were more readily available and not restricted. He believes that private citizens carrying guns could have stopped some of the atrocities. He forgets that in Orlando there was a security guard on duty with a gun.
  3. Johnson believes that no restrictions should be placed on the purchase of automatic in semi automatic assault rifles

Medical and Abortion

  1. Supports abortion
  2. Supports Planned Parenthood
  3. Would eliminate the Affordable Care Act and has no plan to replace it with a different program.
  4. Does not believe in, nor would permit funding for stem cell research.
  5. Eliminate the Bush plan for prescription drug assistance.
  6. Does not believe in funding nor would support insurance four mental health issues.
  7. No government involvement whatsoever on any healthcare insurance.
  8. No government cost regulations related to prescription drug even those that are lifesaving.
  9. Reduce Medicare and Medicaid by at least 50% or eliminate altogether.

   International Trade

  1. In general Gary Johnson typically opposes trade agreements. However, he does support The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Republican Email Scandals You Never Herd of or Forgot About

This article should not be considered to be a testament of exoneration of the Hillary Clinton email situation. However, it should bring into the question why Republicans, who essentially did the same thing or worse were never questioned. I believe the consternation brought to bear on Hillary Clinton is simply because she is, who she is, and that Republicans ignore the same circumstances that exist within their own party. But more importantly, what astounded me as I conducted the research is the lack of press and media attention on all of the numerous other similar situations.

Let us begin with Jeb Bush, Florida Gov. from 1999 – 2007, who voluntarily from his own computer server posted thousands of emails online that were categorized by his own determination of what was relevant to government business. When questioned, the Bush campaign indicated that public records not related to government business were not turned over to the state. But again, similar to the Clinton situation, that was strictly based on the his discretion. Sources indicate that Bush did not include emails related to politics, his campaign, or donors asking for favors.

During the George W. Bush administration, Karl Rove, Deputy Chief of staff, deleted 22 million emails dating from2003 to 2005. Further, the Bush administration improperly utilized email of the Republican National Committee (RNC) that somehow disappeared. It was believed the RNC email system was utilized specifically because they would be hidden from public purview.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a watchdog group, alleged that the missing emails were possible violations of the Federal Presidential Records Act

In 2006, seven Democratic US Attorneys were fired and replaced with political hacks with little or no experience.  A congressional committee investigating the firing of the US attorneys requested the emails and learned they could not be found. At the time there was considerable outrage that the firings were simply a political act to protect VP Dick Cheney and his comrades for unmasking Valerie Palme, a CIA specialist. Palme was a covert CIA agent whose husband publicly criticized the Bush administration for invading Iraq without accurate information concerning weapons of mass destruction. As a result, of the unmasking Palme sued Cheney, Rove, and Scooter Libby, (Bush’s Chief of Staff) for conspiring to destroy her career. Scooter Libby was sentenced to serve 30 months in prison and pay a $250,000 fine. President Bush commuted his prison sentence, and therefore he is one no time.

A majority of the records regarding Palme scandal and the US attorney firings were deleted from the private political server located in the White House. Not a single Republican called for an investigation of this situation. The emails contained information regarding the firing of the eight attorneys who would’ve been involved with the prosecution in the Palme case. Wouldn’t it have been interesting to have those emails available? And where was the Republican outrage. It doesn’t exist because the name Hillary Clinton wasn’t involved.

In 2007, CREW and that National Security Archive sued the Bush administration, stating that he violated federal laws that required such records be maintained.

Republican Notes- It’s All About Rape

Republican Comments concern abortioning and rape:

Do you know who made these comments- Scroll down for the answers

1. Who said this: “Rape is terrible. Rape is awful. Is it made any better by killing an innocent child? Does it solve the problem for the woman that’s been raped?” the XXXXX Republican asked at the St. Joseph’s Covenant Keepers gathering.

2. Who said This:  Asked by a reporter how women could be expected to purchase abortion insurance in preparation of being raped, [Right to Life Michigan president, responded: “Nobody plans to have an accident in a car accident, nobody plans to have their homes flooded. You have to buy extra insurance for those two.”

A group backed by Right to Life of Michigan has been approved to circulate petitions seeking a new state law prohibiting health insurance companies from covering elective abortion procedures. The ballot committee No Taxes for Abortion Insurance wants to require women to purchase optional riders to cover abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. 1.  Kansas, Sen. Sam Brownback, campaigning for president Saturday before the National Catholic Men’s Conference, questioned whether rape victims should get abortions.

He also noted, He said that encouraging a woman who has been a victim of sexual abuse to have an abortion doesn’t address the problems she faces as a result of the rape and does nothing to prosecute the rapist. Link

A LOT Less Of Your Taxes Go To Food Stamps Than Giveaways To The Oil Industry

How would you feel if we told you that fossil fuel companies are benefitting from global subsidies of 14.5 billion dollars a day? That’s $600 million an hour; $10 million per minute; or $168,000 per second. According to a new estimate by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in the three seconds it took you to read this oil, natural gas and coal companies have made benefitted from $336,000 in global subsidies. The United States contributes $700 billion a year to these subsidies; subsidies that President Obama has asked Congress to end since he took office in 2009, but Republicans have fought him every single time. Now, how would you feel if we told you that while GOP lawmakers have refused to eliminate those expensive and harmful subsidies, they have repeatedly cut food stamps? That’s exactly what is happening and it is outrageous!

The IMF, one of the world’s most well-respected financial institutions, said the point of their paper was to give an updated picture energy subsidies at the global and regional levels. A large majority of the their 5.3 trillion dollar subsidy estimate is due to polluters not paying the costs imposed on the world’s governments for burning coal, gas and oil. Included in these costs are the harm caused by local air pollution and the global affects the fossil fuel industry has had on climate change. The IMF says that if we cut global subsidies we could reduce carbon emissions by 20 percent. In the United States that is exactly what President Obama has been saying for years.

In 2009, at the United Nations global warming summit, President Obama called for world leaders to phase out subsidies so that climate change could be addressed. In 2011, he proposed that the United States do away with them in his budget proposal; and in 2012 he did the same thing, calling the subsidies outdated and encouraging the investment into renewable energy.

Not only do these subsidies hurt the global environment by adding to climate change, but they also hurt low- and middle-income families. The IMF found that “energy subsidies are a highly inefficient way to provide support to low-income households since most of the benefits from energy subsidies are typically captured by rich households.” Basically, that money isn’t trickling down to the rest of us, like the rest of the promised Reaganomics dollars.

Republicans were outraged that the president wanted to invest in renewable energy. They have convinced their base that climate change isn’t real, even though 99 percent of the scientific community believes it is. We have lawmakersthrowing snowballs on Capitol Hill as a way to disprove science (seriously) and we have a governor who banned the term “climate change” in his state. They do this because their party is the biggest recipients of campaign donations from the fossil fuel industry, so they don’t care about the rest of us.

While the GOP fights to keep these subsidies ($700 billion) for the oil, gas, and coal industry, they continue to completely screw over the poor by cutting funding for the SNAP program. They claim that the U.S. doesn’t have enough money for the program– which accounted for a little over $74 billion of the 2014 budget. In 2013, $5 billion was slashed from the food stamp budget. That cut affected 47 million low-income American families. This year, they proposed a budget that would kick 11 million families off of the program.

This is the typical Republican policy of pandering to the rich at the expense of the poor. They don’t have any problem giving billions of dollars to rich corporations who are hurting not just the U.S., but the entire world; but they have a huge problem helping people who work two and even three jobs to support their families and still don’t have enough money for food, on top of denying our people access to healthcare. All of this because at the end of the day, the monied elite who run those corporations that are destroying our environment and starving our people have bought the Republican Party wholesale, and the GOP would rather see our nation burn than let their wealthy backers miss out on some profit.
