Thoughts to Ponder

With all due respect to my many Facebook friends, please accept these as my personal opinions only and in no way is intended to condemn any individual or a position a person may possess. For the next six months, I will be mainly concentrating on attempting to get as many Democratic candidates elected as possible. Therefore, please refrain from sending me requests to play, “Solitaire in Wonderland,” “Worlds of wonder,” “Buggle,” “Lucky slots,” “Puzzle charms,” “Birthdays,” “Diamond dash,” “Press your luck,” “Casino star,” “Criminal case,” “Candy crush,” “Farm heroes saga,” and finally (thank God), “Coasterville.” None of these games interest me and until such time as Facebook creates the “NSA Sex Poker crush press in wonderland,” I will never be a participant. This most humble request of mine will save at least 50 to 60 of you time each month by removing me from the playlist.

Furthermore, I have never watched a movie 100 times and therefore cannot participate in your requests to name such a movie. However, if I live to be 105, I could probably make the list and will tell you in advance, it’s the Wizard of Oz. For the next 50 years, you can relax.

Lastly, and this irks me the most. If you are not going to like my page, don’t ask me to like yours. I typically agree to every friends request to like their page but check back one week later to see if they have liked mine. Unfortunately, I end up removing my like approximately 70% of the time.

So if you’re wondering exactly what interest I have and what I stand for, I’ll offer you the following:

Protecting the rights of women to make their own choices and decisions regarding their sexuality and personal beliefs. And equal pay for equal work.

Protecting the rights of people to vote against the anarchists who hide behind the fist of religion and godliness.

Ensuring that no one dies because they do not have access to proper health care.

Protecting the rights of minorities

Ensuring our veterans have proper health care and are provided jobs upon their return. After all, many of the jobs driven overseas occurred as a result of federal government policies and therefore the federal government owes the people something in return. Sorry for the additional commentary.

Creating jobs

PS: in 1980, I wrote in a publication about the four experiences you can never get back. A few years later I added a fifth experience. And in 1996 two others were added. I have listed these for you below. Please be aware that my name is not Anonymous.

Seven experiences you can never get back.

1. Words after they have been spoken.

2. A stone after it has been thrown.

3. A moment or occasion after it has passed.

4. A person after they have passed.

5. Time once it has passed.

6. Betrayal after it has transpired.

7. A lie after it has been spoken.

Myth of Voter Fraud

And yet another nonpartisan study that concludes voter fraud is a Republican myth. In reality, the little voter fraud that does exist generally occurs by Republican Party members. The study described below was conducted by the Brennan Center,Of the New York University Law school. For those following politics,The latest major voter fraud scandal occurred during the last presidential election in Florida by a group conducting voter registration for the Republican Party.

It’s important to protect the integrity of our elections. But we must be careful not to undermine free and fair access to the ballot in the name of preventing voter fraud.

The Brennan Center’s ongoing examination of voter fraud claims reveal that voter fraud is very rare, voter impersonation is nearly non-existent and much of the problems associated with alleged fraud in elections relates to unintentional mistakes by voters or election administrators. Our report “The Truth About Voter Fraud” reveals most allegations of fraud turn out to be baseless — and that of the few allegations remaining, most reveal election irregularities and other forms of election misconduct.

Voter fraud is not acceptable in our elections, but we must find a balance and not impose solutions that make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.  Brennancenter.org

Obamacare enrollment drive’s secret weapon: Radio

health33By April 1, 2014 6:01 AMYahoo News

For months, the media story of how President Obama sold Obamacare to America has starred unconventional outlets like Funny or Die, unconventional pitches like this “Mom Jeans” message for Twitter, and unconventional sales reps like Kobe Bryant, Wil Wheaton, or the moms of Jonah Hill and Adam Levine.

But a look inside the Affordable Care Act’s all-out enrollment drive shows that — for all the talk about social media and unorthodox strategies — the Administration relied heavily in the final stretch on a century-old way to reach the public: Radio. More

Koch Brothers Kill Nashville Transit Project Just Because They Can

Koch Brothers Kill Nashville Transit Project Just Because They Can

Apr 1, 2014

If you are not aware of Koch Industries and The Koch brothers attempt to control our government, you need to inform yourself. Their tactics and antics are corrupt, unethical and undermining our American democracy. Start with listening to this video. The Randolph Review has considerable additional information on the Koch brothers. Just go to The Randolph Review .com In this article, The Koch Brothers funds a campaign to kill a mass transit project in Nashville Tennessee. Why kill a project that does not impact your business or personal life? Some believe it’s because they want everyone to know how powerful they are.

Koch brothers vs. a bus: Why two billionaires hate a transit project in Nashville

A bus rapid transit project is imperiled because a couple of rich guys love meddling

Naturally, this usually makes drivers annoyed, because drivers hate losing one single lane of traffic to drive on anywhere at any time. Property owners often worry, too, that mass transit projects will make it easier for undesirable elements (poor people and black and Latino city residents) to travel to rich neighborhoods.* That is why the project has become “oddly ugly,” in the words of Atlantic Cities. The ugliness is actually understandable for anyone who follows urban transit politics. What doesn’t quite make sense is why Americans for Prosperity, one of the Koch brothers’ largest political organizations, is now lobbying against the project. [*There are also more sympathetic criticisms of the project from residents of working-class neighborhoods, who believe that the city is prioritizing transit for tourists over essential transit upgrades for low-income residents. But it’s always easier to find funding for projects connecting already thriving commercial districts than for projects connecting poor people to that commercial activity.] The Tennessean reports that the Tennessee office of Americans for Prosperity was involved in the drafting of a state Senate bill that would “make it illegal for buses to pick up or drop off passengers in the center lane of a state road,” effectively banning Nashville from creating Amp along the route that it has been planned to operate on since it was first proposed years ago.

StopAmp.org Inc., the leading opposition group, thanked AFP in a news release Thursday, and Andrew Ogles, AFP’s state director, said that the group didn’t back the effort financially but that the bill grew out of a conversation he had had with Sen. Jim Tracy, the sponsor.

In other words, AFP suggested the bill and a friendly legislator sponsored it. According to Ogles, Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee was founded nine months ago, with a “sizable” undisclosed budget and three employees (two of whom are registered lobbyists). Why Tennessee, a state that the Kochs have no personal interest in? Well, it’s just a good environment for their agenda:

“With supermajorities in both houses,” [Ogles] said, “Tennessee is a great state to pass model legislation that can be leveraged in other states.”

So, this is not “the Kochs” doing this, in the cartoonish sense of David or Charles calling up a henchman and saying “kill that new bus line in Nashville,” and then cackling and dipping an orphan in fracking runoff and using it to light a cigar. But this is the story of how billionaires dedicated to advancing an agenda at every level of government can do so with practically no one noticing until they’ve already won. Because a couple of energy moguls are constitutionally opposed to mass transit spending based on a very self-serving definition of “liberty,” Nashville, a city neither of them spends any significant amount of time in, may not get a new bus line. “All politics is local” means something a bit different in this age of unregulated free-for-all political spending.

Saving this democracy may mean the loss of so-called friends, being left out and often standing alone. All of these will seem meaningless when you no longer have a voice in who rules. 2013
